Project Honda

Hi everyone I've only just joined as a new member on the CPR forum. My go kart experience is short in comparison to some, and coming in not knowing anything about go karts has been somewhat challenging. I first started going to the bitumen track down Ipswich willow bank raceway. Just watched and asked some people for information but what I found was that people in General we're very guarding. What I mean to say is they don't tell reveal much and closely guard their secrets. Anyway I ended up buying a rolling chassis tony kart and then a 125 rotax engine, should have probably bought a complete package ready to race that would have been a better and cheaper option but I didn't know. It wasn't easy didn't know anything about chassis set up tyre pressures engine tuning and everything else that goes with it including licensing. I must say the people that run the Ipswich kart club are awesome and very helpful and welcoming. Due to my work constraints I found it difficult to get down there and not knowing anybody in the sport to race with didn't help either. So I raced on and off for a season learned a ships load. Then a mate of mine said that they were racing go karts on dirt 4 strokes and on dirt with slicks WHAT? !!! I had to go and see didn't think much of it thought they were a bit slow he invited me to go to one of their test and tune days and my mate offered me a drive well! after I had a drive I was hooked heaps of fun no pressure and a lot easier and less demanding on your body. This is where I became aware of Cut Price Racing. That was over a year and a half ago recently about 2 months ago I bought a dirt kart so yes I am bitten by the bug.
Which brings me to my DIY project I want to build a go kart for my son so I'm on the look out for a chassis roller and then an engine to power it eventually so as soon as I find a roller and yes all on a budget I'll start posting the pictures.
Cheers for now and keep a look out.
